Sarkhej–Dholera Highway Corridor and Kasindra: What It Means for a Plot Buyer
Kasindra Village, where Dholera Estates 1 is located, sits along the Sarkhej–Dholera Highway corridor in Dhandhuka taluka of Ahmedabad district. That description appears often, but several different projects share similar names: a highway, an expressway, a new rail corridor and an airport. It is easy to mix them up. This guide separates them, explains how they relate to Kasindra and shows what to verify before relying on any of them.
Where Kasindra sits
Kasindra is a village near Dholera SIR, not inside the notified SIR boundary. According to our route guide, it is roughly 10 to 11 km from Dholera village. For approximate distances to Ahmedabad, Bavla and other towns, read our guide to Kasindra distances and routes.
Four things that sound alike
1. The Sarkhej–Dholera Highway This is the existing road corridor that connects the Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad toward the Dholera region. It is the road people have long used to reach the area, and it passes through or near many villages, including Kasindra.
2. The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway A separate, newer road project, reported at about 109 km in length, built as a high-speed link between Ahmedabad and the Dholera region. Reports also mention an NHAI interchange plan and a proposed extension toward Bhavnagar. Whether your plot is near an entry or exit point, and how far it is from the expressway, are separate questions to check.
3. The Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)–Dholera semi high-speed rail project The Union Cabinet approved this on 13 May 2026. It is described as a 134 km double-line corridor with an estimated cost of about ₹20,667 crore, and completion is reported as expected by 2030–31. Reports say it would connect Ahmedabad, Dholera SIR, the upcoming Dholera International Airport and the Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex, and benefit about 284 villages. The name includes “Sarkhej” because that is its starting point in Ahmedabad.
4. Dholera International Airport Under construction, with a government target reported for September to October 2026 that is a target and not a confirmed start of flights. See our update on the airport and expressway for Kasindra plots.
These are four different projects at four different stages. Knowing which is which keeps expectations realistic.
What the corridor means for Kasindra
What we can say
- Kasindra is on an established road corridor toward Dholera, which already provides access.
- The wider network of road, rail and air projects is reported to be developing around the region.
- Better regional connectivity can broaden the pool of people who consider living or investing near Dholera.
What we cannot say
- That the rail line passes close to Kasindra or has a station nearby. Check the official alignment and station locations.
- That any project’s timeline is certain.
- That any of this guarantees a price or a return.
Why the highway matters for daily life
For someone who builds or lives near Kasindra, the highway is the practical link to work, schools, hospitals and markets in nearby towns. For a long-term holder, it determines how easily you can visit the plot and how easily buyers, tenants or builders can reach it.
When you evaluate a specific plot, look at:
- The road that actually reaches the plot, and its condition and width
- The distance from the plot to the highway
- Travel time at different hours
- Access during the monsoon
How to verify claims about the corridor
- Official sources: check statements from the Railways, NHAI, the airport company and the Gujarat government.
- Maps: measure actual road distances and view satellite imagery.
- Alignment: for rail or expressway claims, ask for the official alignment and plan.
- Dates: note the date of every article you read, because targets change.
- Written claims: ask the seller to put distance and connectivity claims in writing.

Holding through the build-out
If you buy now, you will be holding through several years of construction and change. Our guide to planning a 3, 5 and 10-year hold on a Kasindra plot gives a framework for that period.
Common misunderstandings
- Treating the highway, expressway and rail project as one thing
- Assuming “near the corridor” means “next to a station”
- Quoting old distances or old completion dates
- Relying on a single source
- Confusing regional news with plot-level value
